Exa. a ter tido em consideração as minhas exigências e dar conhecimento de que Sua Magestade Fidelíssima, por esta ocasião, direi também que apesar de não ter, por delicadeza, exigido declaração alguma deste Governo de que se tratava, com respeito às despesas que se tratam, foi da intenção do antecessor, sem dúvida alguma, que todas as referidas despesas fossem satisfeitas pelos cofres desta província.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Excellency's Despatch No. 125 of the 11th instant, stating that you have transmitted to the British Secretary of State for the Colonies the transcripts or appeals in the cause instituted at the instance of my Predecessor against the Editor of the "China Mail," a step which I ... although no official intimation has as yet reached you from the Government of Macao as to the expenses to be incurred in such Appeals.
